Luxury Lavenderade

Prep Notes

I love this beverage with bit of sparkling water. It's great on a hot day or when you just need to relax. Lavender's light citrus flavor blends just right with lemon and lime to add to this refreshing beverage. It is important to know where your lavender is sourced from since you are taking it internally.  Lavender has had a history of reported uses most commonly for stress relief and migraines. It also has been documented thru the years to help with emotional upset, gastric issues (for example: nervous stomach, flatulence w/ pain, indigestion). If your interested in learning more about how Lavender might support your body or mix with your current medications feel free to book a meeting with me.

Cooking Time

10-20 mins steep time 5 mins blending time

Yields

5 cups

Ingredients

2 cups boiling water

3/4 cup Lavender Flowers

2 cups cold water

1/2 cup lime juice

1/2 cup lemon juice

1 cup raw cane sugar or use your favorite. Don't forget to convert if using another natural sweetener.

Directions

1) Make a lavender infusion but putting the lavender into the boiled water and let steep for 10-20 mins covered. Keeping it covered allows all of the plant compounds stay in the infusion.  TIP: Using a French press allows you to steep and strain with less dishes to wash:) If you don't have French press a coffee filter in a strainer will work to filter out all the flowers and small particles.

2) While that is steeping mix the rest of the ingredients into a large pitcher that will hold at little over a quart of fluid or more if you don't prefer strong Lavenderade.

3) Strain lavender infusion into the pitcher.

4) Stir/Shake well.

5) Serve with ice
