Food and Your Mood: Its Impacts on Mental Health

Good mental health translates to good physical health – and the inverse is also true. Being physically well affects mental health. Studies show that fast food (a convenient, easy choice for those struggling with their mental health) can lead to feelings of depression and higher levels of anxiety. Adding Colors To Your Journey.

Most of us go about our daily lives never thinking about why we are drawn to such objects. We have our favorite places, foods, and even people. What about these things are we drawn too? I believe that could be partly due to colors. They help us feel and live. Every culture has attached some sort of meaning to colors. Being an Integrative Health and Wellness coach I have started making products to help you on your journey. These items include but are not limited to simple jewelry, knotted and/or woven wall hangings, god’s eyes(Ojo De Dios), and whatever else that I might be inspired to make at the time. I rely on colors to help convey the message that you might need to focus on at that stage in your journey. Going back to being drawn to something.  Ever look at a piece of art and say “I really don’t know why this person is an artist. Their work is horrible.” It could be that the style is not yours or maybe even the colors that they used. I would like to personally ask you to take a few moments out of your day to reflect on why you like certain things and jot them down. You might be surprised at what you find.

Now if you find that you want to explore these ideas, colors might help you on a spiritual level. I am here to help. We can work together to help you on your spiritual journey using colors to remind you where you need to focus your energy. Here are the color meanings that I follow though again can change depending on your culture. We can explore these if you would like. Please do take note that though I say spiritual journey it is not necessarily religion, but a journey that is affecting your personal soul. If you so choose to follow the guidelines of a religion I would assist you in seeking out which person or persons you could contact to keep this as part of your journey.

colourassociations    As you can see by this color wheel there is a positive and negative to each color besides the general feeling that we get on the surface. Also the shade of each of these colors can influence the degree of affect on you personally. When making something such as a God’s eye(Ojo De Dios) for example it’s like I am making a formula for someone to use during times of strength and weakness to meditate on and adjust themselves accordingly.

I am here when you are ready :) Abigail

A Logo's Journey

vestedwelllognewtext_copy

Everything has a story right? You are probably thinking who cares about a silly logo. I wanted to share this with you because it is a story of symbolism, intent, & personal journey. Like a great piece of art a logo becomes the first impression of you to the outside world.  It's on all your media outlets, in print, even on product labels. Welcome to my logo journey.

As I was sitting in the garden by my pond last year I often visualized things that I wanted to make and/or do in my life. After I gave birth to a wonderful baby boy, I really couldn't do much in the garden except plot a plan for the future. I knew that I wanted to be there with him as much as I possibly could. I also knew that love unfortunately does not pay the bills. I sat and watched as birds flew in and out of the trees. Every so often a dragon fly would stop by for a sip of water and a rest on the rocks. I have always been fascinated with them. I thought back to the place where his father had proposed to me. It was a large pond filled with beautiful lily pads. It was where I felt an inner peace, love and warmth from the bright sun. Being out on this pond in my kayak recharged me for the rest of what life had planned for me. Giving birth presented a natural break to plan for our future. I knew that my little family would have to be carefully cultivated and watched over as it grew. What would I teach this young child of the world?  What can I teach anyone in this world? I am only one person. I laid in my bed one night shortly after he was born. I was starting to worry about leaving him. Other family members seemed to keep needing my help with other things in their lives. I knew that I had lots of schooling and never put it into practice. Why had I spent the money investing in myself but not really listening to what was in my heart & soul? What did my instincts say? I fell asleep thinking of what my life would be if I just stop fighting and follow the path my soul was intending for me to follow. That night I dreamed of this place that my husband proposed and the dragon flies were zooming all over the place. It was peak season for all the yellow and white lotus blossoms to be blooming from the murky depths of this pond and meet the warm sun. I could visualize my son playing in the cattails near the shore. We all were calm and happy. I thought to myself "Just jump in". Into the murky pond? I quickly woke myself. Over the next few days I reflected on this dream.  I realized that being in business for myself, listening to what my body was screaming at me, and the natural break that had been presented is what my soul had been longing for the whole time.  Thus bringing me to the visualization of the logo.

It presents the warm sun as a lotus flower rises to meet it. The dragon fly with it's eyes for wings represent honesty, vision, self realization and transformation. The Dragonfly soars upward empowering us to be strong and to fly away from the murky waters below. The lotus it's self symbolizes rebirth or regeneration. The name of the company tells us to invest in ourselves but use that knowledge and inner wisdom to take charge of our personal wellness to create the best person we can be.

Now when you see my logo you don't just see the logo you feel what it represents. I hope that shines as a beacon of hope for your journey.

How to Create a Strong Support System: 10 Tips

A social support system refers to a network of people we can turn to for emotional and practical support. This group can include anyone ‒ family members, friends, peers, coworkers, professionals. Social support networks are different from a formal support group that typically meets to assist people in a shared traumatic experience; rather, they’re informal, with no preset framework, and can be tapped for any type of experience you need support with. Having these support networks in place before, during, and after times of struggle can make managing stress and other negative emotions easier. Read More
